Present

Alas, since I am not the sewer that my momma is, the thing i promised to show you didn't want to be completed. It's still sitting in a heap on my sewing table upstairs. I gave up... oh the shame :( Maybe I'll get the courage up to try for a 4th time this weekend, but we'll see...

On a lighter note, look what I got!

A present from the aforementioned momma :) The fabric all the yarn is sitting on is a cute little handmade apron. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the actual yarn yet... maybe a magazine basket for the bathroom with the sagey green yarn... And the fabric in the top corner...

I think we have a possibility for lining the rose bag... Pretty!!! Now I just have to decide on handles. Any ideas?

In Progress... And an Award!

Yeah! Another award! Riss, over here, so very kindly nominated me for the Rockin' Girl Blogger Award... Thanks, Riss! You're pretty rockin' yourself, and I'm sooo happy that I can help you embrace your pink side. I used to hate pink, go figure, but now wish i could convince hubby he liked it as much as me. He did promise that if I find a work-at-home position, I can paint my office any color that I choose, and I think I'll be embracing my pink-side, too! Thanks again!

Here are a few in progress pics. First, the first "t" pillow is more than half-way done. I made a flap that will button to the back of the pillow and started the back in crazy stitch (dc, sc across, turn, sc in dc, dc in sc across) in the blue. I can't wait to finish and stuff it to see how it turns out!

And, here's part of a b-day present for a friend at work. I've heard about making crochet hook covers with fimo clay, but that bakes hard, and I thought squishy would be more comfortable... So, I used Crayola's model magic. I bought primary colors and then mixed them to make fushia, lime green, and then marbeled it all together with the white. They air-dryed over-night and they feel sooo good to crochet with! I think I'm going to have to make them for myself, too! The other thing I like is that it doesn't make the hook any heavier, they're still very light. I think the fimo might have been too heavy.

Tomorrow, I'll show you the other part of co-worker's gift... And a present for me, from mommy.

Still Scrappin'

I've been working on the honeymoon scrapbook, inbetween Harry Potter stints. Here's the newest pages...

Pretty, huh? I decided to veer from the cheery colors of the other pages, just for this set.

Also, I was nominated for an award from a friend, but I don't have time to post, so I'm going to wait until I have more time to give it justice! Thanks Riss!

More Honeymoon Pics

Here's some more of what I've been working on, besides reading the 6th Harry Potter so that I can get to the latest and finally know if Harry gets you-know-who. Anyways, look :)

I'm loving doing this. Hubby is scared that I'm loving it too much and my monster scapbooking supply upstairs is going to start collecting lots of dust. I don't think I'll ever stop paper scrapping, but this is so easy and fun. Riss was asking what program I use. I purchased the deluxe edition of FxFoto. You can get details here. It has just about everything I'd ever need and I find it easier to use than Photoshop, and a LOT cheaper. Here's some more...

That's It

I've finally decided to just go for it... After 8 months, I'm finally scrapbooking my honeymoon pictures, but I'm doing it digital style, and so far, I'm loving it! I got most of the stuff from The Shabby Shoppe and Scrapbook Graphics. Also, i know I've told you before, but Shabby Princess has awesome FREE stuff for download... Very fun!

Ok, so, +'s... No mess! I know hubby is happy, cause it used to look like our dining room table had been through a tornado whenever I would scrapbook. Piles of trash here, piles of paper that are big enough that you don't want to trash them, stickers spewing from underneath piles, etc. Now, everything is all pretty and organized on my computer, no cutting, trimming, gluing necessary.

-'s... well, you do get a bit sucked in (which I suppose you do with paper-scrapbooking, too). I was with hubby at school today from 9:30-3:00, with about an hour and a half lunch break, and I only got 3 pages done. Well, actually 2, cause the first page was almost done, I just put some finishing touches on it this morning. Anyways, waddya think?

Phew, I have lots to go still... I'm planning on having the book printed at WinkFlash... My favorite photo-storage/printing web-site. Ok... Back to work!

Nice Matters!

Awww! My momma is giving me the Nice Matters Award. It's kinda ironic to me that she would pass it on to me when she is the nicest person I know (well, don't piss her off, tho :) ). Thank you momma!!! I'm supposed to send it on to some of the nicest people I know. So, Oiyi at Oiyi's Crafts... Katrina at Snapdragons... and Riss at Bound and Cabled. Congrats guys!

And, drum roll please...

She's done!

Isn't she pretty? I have to give her away??? It's ok... The mommy-to-be is super sweet and I know it will be treasured. And, I have way enough yarn to make another one... some day ;)

Not Much Around Here

Well, I'm kinda being lazy :) So, no updates on anything today, but stay posted cause the pink ripple is almost done, and I plan on making some baklava soon, so I'll post the recipe and pics for that, too!

I don't like to post without a pic, so here's a finny picture from this web-site that my brother totally got me addicted to...

He's so cute! I want him :)

Granny/Stripey Bag Up-Date

Ooo... I really like how this is turning out!!! Now I just have to find some lining fabric for momma to line it with and decide how I want my handles... Any ideas?

Oh, and look what I came home to...

Yellow and red??? How lucky am I? It's hubby and my 3 year anniversary since our first date :) Which was at Starbucks... He remembers my "crazy pants" which i really liked, but he obviously didn't... Kinda silky capri pants with yellow, orange and red Hawaiian flowers... I remember going home and thinking, "Wow! He could really be the one!" Guess my instinct was right, huh?

Summer and a Meme

I am so ready for summer to be over and it's only August, which means atleast another month of yucky 100+ temps... tttbbbbbbbbtttthhhhhh :P

Anyways, Momma tagged me for a meme, so here goes!

Four Jobs I've Done In My Life:
1. Nanny to 2
2. Daycare worker (the best birthcontrol... I'm telling you, work at one and you won't want to go home to anymore children!) and I love kids!!!
3. Basically every job in a hospital Health Information department, from a Legal Clerk to a transcriptionist to a chart analyst (yuck) to my current job...
4. Certified Coding Specialist, which is a really hard thing to explain to people, if you tell them you work with the hospital to get paid they think you're a brain-dead medical biller (and medical billers aren't brain dead, but lots of people think they are) and that's not it at all... I have to go through out-patient and in-patient records and decide which diagnoses and procedures in my ICD-9 and CPT code set which includes hundreds of thousands of codes that describes the encounter the way that the physician has documented it... I basically have to think like an MD, know the ins and outs of disease process and pathophisiology, and my job, along with the other CCSs out there, is to help make the hospital money and make sure that patient's are never overcharged for their health care. Accurately. So that in 7 years, the government (Medicare) doesn't come asking for their money back... The definition from the American Health Information Management Association explains it here. There's a word game that has to be played in the health care field... one word that an MD does or does not write down on your medical record could mean the difference of thousands of dollars. Crazy, huh?

Four Countries I've Been To:
1. United States
2. Mexico (Tulum... on my honeymoon) the pic to the left is our view from the balcony :)... maybe I'll do a whole post about our honeymoon some time... It was so unbelievable!

unfortunately, that's it, but 2 other places I really want to go before I die...
3. Greece
4. Italy

Four Places I'd Rather Be Right Now:
1. I'm pretty happy sitting in my new house with hubby, but if I had to pick 3 other places...
2. Standing on the "Big Spin" stage with a million $$$ check in my hand
3. Anywhere with a pretty beach, the gulf of Mexico is so gorgeous
4. In San Fran (one of my all-time favorite cities, too!) with momma on a shopping spree at the warf

Four Foods I Like to Eat:
1. Chinese food... I think maybe I was Chinese in another life
2. Fettuccine Alfredo from Di Cicco's Italian Restaurant
3. I also, like momma, love cheesecake
4. Anything with peanut butter... Especially chocolate peanut butter ice cream... Mmmm...

Ok, now I have to tag 4 people... Ummm... Well, if you feel like being tagged, you're it!
