So my first post will be about food... If you would have told me 3 years ago that I would be eating, let alone cooking, foods named falafel and tabbouleh, I would have looked at you like you were crazy. Last November I married an amazing, handsome man... a 100% Armenian man... A bit of a culture shock, but all I can say is that my life has become so much richer by his awesome family and their culture.
One of the first things I learned to make, mostly because I could eat a whole bowl of it, was tabbouleh. It's very easy and very good for you! Falafel is not much harder... it's made of ground up dried garbonzo beans with different spices. It comes all pre-mixed in packs and all you do is re-hydrate it and then pan fry it in veggie oil. You eat those as if they are little meatballs, in pita-bread with yummy yogurt tahini (basically peanut butter made of sesami seeds) sauce. It's all so good and simple to make... Here's a pic (sorry I forgot to take a pic of the food all pretty on a plate) and the recipe for the tabbouleh, next time I make the falafel I'll post the directions for it, since tabbouleh was the first thing i learned to make, it'll be the first thing I'll teach you to make :)
Tabbouleh:
1 cup bulgar wheat
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 bunch green onions
1 bunch curly leaf parsley
3 tomatoes
1/4-1/2 cup lemon juice
1/4-1/2 cup olive oil
salt and pepper
First, combine the bulgar and the boiling water in a bowl and let sit 15-20 minutes until all of the water has been absorbed. While that's working, finely chop the parsely, green onions and tomatoes. Mix the veggies with the bulgar and then add the lemon juice and oil until it's just wet, not sitting in dressing, but just wet... then salt and pepper to taste. Mmmm!
Next, for something more up my family's alley, my step-daddy has requested banana-pudding for Father's Day, for the I don't know how-manyith time... It's Paula Dean's "Not Yo' Momma's Banana Pudding". If I new how to link to the recipe I would, but until then I'll just say it's on the FoodTV.com website. Sooooooo Gooooooood! Here are some more pics.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!
And there was just enough left for two mini ones for me and hubby!
Anyways, this is going to be an interesting journey! Hopefully I'll post some of my recent crochet projects next time.

How awesome that you are blogging along with your mom. I'm not a huge fan of taboulleh, although it has been years since I've had it, so I might just give your recipe a try. I really want to learn to make falafel as I think I would love it.I adore the name of your blog. Welcome to blogland and come visit me (I have a regular blog and food blog), when you have opportunity. I'm going to link to your blog from mine, hope that's ok. xoxo
Meant to say, banana pudding is one of our all-time favorites!! Yours looks delicious and beautiful. xoxo
Lucky you, learning to cook the food of another culture! It all looks delicious! And you and your husband are adorable. I wish you many, many happy years together!
BTW, doing a link in your blog is easy. When you write a new post, just click on the green earth with the link on it (it's to the right of the T with the colored squares on your blogger dashboard). Then paste the link right in the URL box and it will show up on your post.
Just in case...to copy something, you simply highlight it, then right-click your mouse and click 'copy.' Then follow the instructions above and just right click and hit 'paste.'
Have fun with your new blog!
Wecome to blogland, I too have found you via your Mum's blog. You'll love it, blogs are very addictive but open up a whole new world for you. I'll come visit again soon.
Hi:
Your Mom said to check your blog out; so here I am : ) I grew up in Fowler and LOVE real Armenian food!!! As little kids we would pick fresh grape leaves, take them home and we were allowed to wash them and my Mom would pickle them for dolmas. What a fun process; better than going to the market and buying the ones in the jars. Peta bread warm from the oven is Great!!!
You and your husband are a Lovely couple!!!
Take care
carole
well, sounds really yummy and look great too! I actually cooked very few times here in Italy and I dare say that I did not always succeed... ask my sisters about the tuna-fish and potatoes pie... they're still chocking; beside when I lived in England they said, my universities buddies, I was a really good cook, either 'cause you can imagine their skills in the kitchen or they actually never want to cook...
very interesting first POST.
take care
ciao from Rome
Freddie
PS: if you want Italian recipes just ask
I just filafel that I've never tried these foods!! Ha!
I am an really ancient friend of your mom's (like a few months now...) and I found you by myself...guess I'd better go see that girl.
Welcome!
